Welcome to the Journal Press file transfer center. Our FTP file transfer system moves your files safely and is great way to save time getting your project on press. Please read the following instructions before sending us your files. Thank you for printing at Journal Press!
General information:
Sending a printing project to us in digital format is just like having a service bureau or color separator output your job to film. Please do not send your project files when the "project package" will be greater than 5 megabytes (all your files grouped in a single compressed file). For larger projects, please send your files on CDROM, ZIP or JAZ disks. We generally need the same job information as the service bureau or color separator. Your files should be prepared the same way, with crop marks set and all colors converted to cmyk when appropriate. Additional spot colors should to output to separate films. Include all the digital files: the document that your job was created in and all imported art, photos and type fonts. Trapping will be handled by your software unless you specify otherwise. Your project must be proof printed in separations (if it is a multi color job) on a laser printer and faxed to us before you send us your job files. The faxed proof will be our guide so it must be a print of your actual final file. This is essential! We cannot proceed with your job until we receive your faxed proofs!
Please follow this procedure to send us your job:
1) Proof your job out on a laser printer, reduced to fit on the laser printer if necessary (Indicate on the proofs if they are printed at a reduced size).
2) Collect all of your job elements: page files, art and type fonts and compress them in a single Stuffit (MAC) or WinZip (PC) file.
3) Send us a fax telling us that the job is coming. Include the proofs, job name, output information and your purchase order information.
4) When the above is complete, click here to send us your project!
